Thanks for these. I like a lot of what McKenna has to say. He really cuts to the chase. In the article on Buddhism, he laments that fact that Buddhism isn't producing more awakened beings.

Surely that's assuming that enlightenment is a linear process with and end point (enlightenment).

What if, as ACIM is saying, the time of our awakening is already "set". Maybe that's why Buddhism isn't producing more enlightened beings.

Well, you'd still have an end point, if The Disappearance Of The Universe is right.

More troubling is, how can he know? It seems most people don't announce it or care to, so maybe buddism produces 500 awakenings per year. I don't actually think so, but you can't know. As is clear, I love McKenna's books, but he is sometimes a bit more certain than is justified, methinks.

Yes, I should have been clearer: You're (or DU) right about the end point AFAIK. I think it was the seeming linearity that I was questioning.

And yes, it's true, we don't know how many it's produced. That's why I like ACIM, as opposed to some other non-dual paths, is that it's not some kind of "one-shot deal" such as many are claiming these days. (Notice the amount of people who've "awakened" and have hung out their shingle as "teachers"?) Yet talking to these people,, it's sometimes abundantly clear that they actually still have plenty to forgive!

Very true. I blogged about this a few months ago: it's clear that there are dramatic experiences which may feel like Awakening, but which are far from the end. I really wish we had a LOT more clear information about all this.

Here is a link to the closeest I have found to a person who seems to be enlightened. She does not say she is enlightened but she does mentor. http://acimmentor.blogspot.com/search?updated-min=2005-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&updated-max=2006-01-01T00%3A00%3A00-08%3A00&max-results=1

It was cool reading her blog because it gave me a good idea of what I can expect. LOL
