Wanting the world

"You do not want the world. The only thing of value in it is whatever part of it you look upon with love."
- ACIM chapter twelve

I would have thought that this would be one of those lines from the course which are quoted everywhere. But not so, it's quite rarely quoted. Nice to blast trails. :)

I like it especially because the subject was one I've been thinking about recently, and it was exactly the conclusion I'd reached myself.

A House With Many Rooms

I had a dream this night:
I saw a big manor house. It was collossal actually. Many, many rooms in this mansion.
I walked into the grounds and sat on a bench, stunned, admiring the house and the equally huge old-growth trees around it.
It was so beautiful.
Later I suddenly realized this would be my own home one day.
And I cried.

Acquiring Stuff

Isn't it funny how the Ego thinks it can get comfort by Acquiring Stuff? I think that if my personal finances were still as poor as they were some years ago, I would (still) think that my happiness depended on me being able to buy the cameras, books, films, and computers that I wanted. Instead, since I can, and have done so, I have observed that this does not work.

This only stops me from going over the top, though, and from buying way, way too much. I don't do that, even though I could afford it. But I still buy a bit more than I need, and I still sort-of thinks it's going to make me happy. Instead it makes me kind-of happy while I'm waiting for it to arrive, and for about 39 hours after it arrives... :)

My ego-self is not very bright!

Paralysis

Pursah tells in The Disappearance Of The Universe that The One Mind behind everything is in a paralysing state of fear. I think it explains why us likkle humans have so much fear to face, when the Full Mind Who Made The Universe is paralysed with fear!
Of course each of us only has to face a tiny bit of it, otherwise we wouldn't have a knat's chance in hell. But it's still huge.
(That the full mind is also really me, and you, is a different story.)

Old prejudices

"The greatest and noblest pleasure which we have in this world is to discover new truths, and the next is to shake off old prejudices." - Frederick II
